CaloriZen ("we", "us", "the app") is an AI-powered nutrition and fitness app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using CaloriZen you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account information — your email address.
Profile information — name, age, gender, height, weight, goals, and dietary preferences you provide.
Health & fitness data — meals, calories and macronutrients, water intake, weight history, workouts, and body metrics you log. With your permission, we read and write related data through Apple Health (HealthKit).
Content you provide — photos of food you scan, recipes you import, and notes.
Usage & diagnostics — how you interact with features, plus crash and performance data, to keep the app working and improve it.
Subscription information — your subscription status, managed through Apple and RevenueCat. We never receive your full payment card details.

How we use your information

Provide and personalize the app, including calorie/macro tracking, food and barcode scanning, recipe import, workouts, and progress tracking.
Power AI features such as food photo analysis and coaching.
Sync your data across your devices and back it up.
Process your subscription, provide support, and send notifications you enable.
Understand aggregate usage to improve the app.

AI processing

To generate results, content you submit (such as a meal photo or a question to the AI coach) is sent to our AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google) for processing. These providers process the request to return a result and do not use your content to train their models. We do not use your health data to train AI models.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

Data obtained through HealthKit is used solely to provide app features to you (for example, showing your weight or activity). It is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising or data-mining purposes.

Service providers

We share data only with providers that help us operate the app, under contracts that limit their use of it:

Supabase — database, authentication, and storage
Apple — HealthKit and App Store purchases
RevenueCat — subscription management
Anthropic, OpenAI, Google — AI processing
OneSignal — push notifications
Sentry — crash and error reporting
PostHog — product analytics
Open Food Facts — barcode nutrition lookups

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time in the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us. You can also export your data from within the app.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children

CaloriZen is not intended for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these in the app, or contact us for help.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above.
